About Me
Tolga Y. Özüdoğru, Ph.D., M.ASCE is an assistant professor in the Geotechnical Engineering Division–Department of Civil Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) where he has been a faculty member since 2005. Dr. Özüdoğru completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at ITU and earned his Ph.D. degree in 2015. During his Ph.D., he was awarded a couple of scholarships and served as a visiting scholar at Virginia Tech for a period of 2.5 years, where he worked on a few NSF projects and performed his research on energy piles. His dissertation earned the "Best Ph.D. Thesis Award 2015" from ITU. His research interests mainly lie in the area of numerical modeling and in-situ testing. He authored many journal articles and conference papers, some of which he presented in international conferences.
Dr. Özüdoğru has extensive consulting experience where he reviewed numerous geotechnical projects and design reports. He authored over 50 professional technical reports. His consulting expertise lies in the areas of geotechnical evaluation, shoring systems, shallow and deep foundations, soil-structure interaction of tunnels and superstructures, retaining walls, slope stability and soil improvement.
Dr. Özüdoğru is affiliated with several national and international professional organizations including ASCE and ISSMGE. He has been serving as the secretary of ASCE Turkey Group since 2015. He is also a member and a licensed foundation engineer at Society of Engineers-UAE.
Moreover, Dr. Özüdoğru is the co-founder and the chief technology officer of hetGE LLC, an engineering software company creating uniquely intuitive solutions for mobile and cloud-based applications that encapsulate both routine and distinctly specialized engineering analysis: Piles Section and Piles Capacity apps for design of bored piles and AnchorTest app for testing of post-tensioned ground anchors.
